Building a new church is one of the most significant decisions a congregation will make. It requires careful stewardship, thoughtful planning, and a builder who understands both the practical and the spiritual dimensions of the project.
Starting with Your Ministry Vision
Every new church project should begin with a clear understanding of how the building will serve your congregation’s ministry. Before we discuss floor plans or construction methods, we listen. What does your congregation need today? How do you expect to grow? What kinds of worship, fellowship, education, and outreach will this building support?
These ministry questions shape everything that follows — from the size of the sanctuary to the layout of fellowship and classroom spaces.
Planning with Realism and Care
A new church building involves many decisions: site selection, municipal approvals, architectural design, engineering, and construction. Each of these carries cost and schedule implications that your building committee needs to understand clearly.
We provide early budget guidance based on our experience with over 400 church projects. This helps your congregation avoid the disappointment of designing a building that exceeds your resources. We work alongside your team to align vision with budget from the very beginning.
Site Evaluation
If your congregation is still evaluating land options, we can help assess sites for construction suitability, servicing costs, access, grading, and municipal zoning requirements. The right site can save significant money and avoid future complications.
Design and Construction
We coordinate with architects and engineers to ensure your plans are practical, buildable, and within budget. During construction, we manage every trade, monitor quality, maintain schedules, and provide the open-book financial reporting that your congregation deserves.
Our goal is to deliver a facility that serves your ministry faithfully — built with integrity, completed on budget, and ready for the work God has called your congregation to do.
Since 1967
Three Generations of Church Construction
Our church construction experience traces back to 1967, when Don Hawkey — Adam Mighton’s maternal grandfather — founded Don Hawkey Construction. That legacy continued through Hawkey Church Management and through Jeff Mighton’s decades of church construction experience. Today, Mighton Construction carries that family legacy forward with more than 400 church projects completed across Ontario.
- Pentecostal, United, Presbyterian, Catholic, Brethren in Christ, Missionary, and other congregations served
- Construction management with open-book budgeting — every dollar accounted for
- Phasing planned around worship, so ministry continues through construction
- Comfortable working with pastors, elders, trustees, boards, and building committees
