Mighton Construction is a Christian family company with a legacy of serving churches across Ontario. Since 1967, our team has completed over 400 church projects — from small sanctuary renovations to full new-build campuses.
A Legacy of Church Building
Our church building heritage began with Don Hawkey Construction, which established a reputation for honest, capable work with congregations throughout Ontario. That expertise grew through Hawkey Church Management, where the focus sharpened on the unique needs of worship facilities. Jeff Mighton carried this legacy forward, and today Mighton Construction continues the same commitment to faithful stewardship of every church dollar.
How We Serve Churches
Our preferred approach is construction management with open-book budgeting. This means your congregation sees exactly where every dollar goes. We coordinate design, manage trades, and provide practical oversight so your building committee can focus on ministry decisions rather than construction details.
We have worked with Pentecostal, United, Presbyterian, Catholic, Brethren in Christ, Missionary, and many other denominations. Each tradition brings different requirements for worship space, fellowship areas, and ministry facilities. Our experience across these traditions means fewer surprises and better planning for your project.
Who We Work With
We understand that church building decisions involve many voices — pastors, elders, trustees, boards, and building committees. We are experienced in presenting clear information, answering questions honestly, and helping leadership groups make confident decisions about their facility.
Services for Churches
Whether your congregation is planning a new building, renovating an aging sanctuary, adding classrooms or fellowship space, or simply exploring what is possible within your budget, we are here to help. Every project begins with a conversation about your vision and your resources.
How Church Construction Management Is Priced
Church construction management fees are typically based on the size, complexity, and delivery structure of the project. Because church projects vary widely — from accessibility upgrades to multi-phase facilities — we prefer to discuss budgets in a planning conversation rather than publish generic square-foot pricing. What we can promise in every case is open-book budgeting: your board sees actual trade and material costs, our fee is defined clearly up front, and stewardship questions get real numbers, not allowances.
Where We Serve Churches
We are best suited to congregations within roughly 1.5 hours of Wasaga Beach — including Simcoe County, South Georgian Bay, Barrie, Orillia, Midland, and Penetanguishene. For exceptional church construction projects further afield in Ontario, we are glad to have a conversation about fit. Being close matters on a church project: it means our team is on your site regularly, at your committee meetings in person, and available when a decision cannot wait.
Building While Ministry Continues
Most church projects happen around a living congregation — weekly worship, mid-week programs, weddings, and funerals that cannot simply pause for construction. We plan phasing around your ministry calendar, maintain safe access and egress throughout, and sequence noisy or disruptive work away from service times. Protecting the life of the church during construction is not an add-on for us; it is a core part of how we plan every project.
We invite you to reach out for a no-obligation discussion about your church facility needs.
Since 1967
Three Generations of Church Construction
Our church construction experience traces back to 1967, when Don Hawkey — Adam Mighton’s maternal grandfather — founded Don Hawkey Construction. That legacy continued through Hawkey Church Management and through Jeff Mighton’s decades of church construction experience. Today, Mighton Construction carries that family legacy forward with more than 400 church projects completed across Ontario.
